Q. How much does an eye exam cost?
A. The Adult fee is $79. However SENIORS 65 and over and CHILDREN 18 years and younger always are entitled to our "No Out Of Pocket" comprehensive eye exam. That's right, if you are are a senior or child you can walk into Lifetime Eyecare and get a full eye exam, and pay NOTHING OUT OF POCKET. We bill the government directly via your MSP coverage and do not add any additional fees for you the client.
Q. How long does a comprehensive eye exam usually take?
A. It varies, depending on various factors. However the average time in the chair with our Optometrist will range from 20-40 minutes. We conduct very important eye and overall health related screening procedures prior to seeing the Optometrists. These are crucial aspects to the comprehensive eye exam and it is many of these tests that you DO NOT receive when you get these so-called "sight tests" at optical centres.
In addition to getting a prescription for glasses, you will get a comprehensive vision and eye health exam which includes a prescription for glasses and a screening for eye disease such as cataracts, diabetes, glaucoma, and macular degeneration.
It is important to note that opticians and optical centers who advertise "Sight-Testing" do not do an actual "eye-health" exam. Why is this dangerous? Because many eye diseases do not have any symptoms. Therefore the only way to discover eye diseases is to get a full, comprehensive exam. This is one reason why it is very important that you have your vision and eye health checked at least every one to two years by a licensed, experienced Optometrist or Ophthalmologist.
Q. Where can I park when I get to Lifetime Eyecare?
A. We have parking directly behind our building, at the corner of 6th street and Princess. There is also street parking often available right in front of our convenient location.
Q. Can I get contact lenses and supplies with Lifetime Eyecare?
A. Of course! We carry the top four lens company, Johnson & Johnsons, Bausch & Lomb, CIBA and Coopervision. We even carry over 20 colours in our coloured contact line. Not to mention the fact that we have a wonderful lens fitting room where we train and advise on contact lenses. We also have contacts for those with high astigmatism and bifocal contacts.
It is important to note that when you purchase CIBA contact lenses with us, there is the option of HOME DELIVERY as well. Some restrictions apply so if you are interested in this wonderful home delivery program, just ask us!
Q. Do you really have such a huge selection of eyeglasses and sunglasses?
A. Yes, in fact we have at last count over 95 different deisgner frames and keep over 2,000 frames on the floor at any given time. Q. How much will a pair of prescription eyeglasses cost me? How about prescription sunglasses?
A. This can vary widely depending on the frame you pick, the brand and quality of lens, as well as the protective coatings you decide to have. However the average cost really starts at around $150 and goes up from there. wE make sure that our prices are among the best, yet at the same time, we also never compromise regarding our tremendous variety of designer frames, which will please even the most demanding buyer.
As for prescription sunglasses, you bet! We do them all the time, and they are a very smart idea. As we all are leaning, the sun does a number on our eyes over time and protecting them with proper lenses is the only way to prevent sun damage.
